Home Remedies for Heartburn/Acid Reflux with Cumin
Cumin has traditionally been known to benefit the digestive system, and since this is where the source of heartburn/acid reflux usually lies, the benefits of trying cumin are clear. In addition, more recent research has shown that cumin seeds may also contain certain enzymes which are necessary for proper digestion, although this research has yet to be confirmed.
This is quite a simple little heartburn/acid reflux remedy, which is easy to make and isn't quite so foul to drink as some of the other things that I've suggested so far. All you need to do is to take two tablespoons of cumin seeds and add them to approximately four and a half cups of water. Boil the mixture in a pan for about a minute and then allow the mixture to cool. Just drink a glassful of the mixture twice a day for a few days and this should prevent your heartburn/acid reflux.
If you are going to try this remedy, you need to make sure that you use cumin seeds and not caraway seeds, as the two are quite often mixed up. Both seeds are oblong in shape and yellow-brown in color. However, cumin seeds are very aromatic and are slightly lighter in color than caraway seeds. Caraway seeds on the other hand, are not so aromatic and have a flavor something reminiscent to a mixture of dill and anise.
