Herbal Peppermint Tea for Heartburn/Acid Reflux
Whilst peppermint, if taken in an undiluted form such as a sweet, can cause heartburn, in a more diluted form such as a tea, it can help alleviate heartburn/acid reflux symptoms, or stop heartburn from occurring. This is because the amount of menthol contained within the diluted form, isn't enough to trigger heartburn for most people.
Peppermint itself is well known for curing a number of digestive problems, so just by drinking a peppermint tea after each meal, especially a large meal, you can help prevent heartburn. However, the strong taste doesn't always appeal to everyone.
If you're interested in trying peppermint tea, then making your own is very simple. Mix together 6 ounces each, of peppermint leaves, lemon-balm leaves and fennel seeds. You will need to place 1 teaspoon of the mixture in each cup that you want to prepare. Boil the water and add to the cup, blending the mixture with the water. Leave to steep for about 8 to 10 minutes, then strain and drink.
